checking out books
Some days your child may bring home a book from the Library/Media Center if he/she is in grades 1-3. Please take time to read it with your child, as well as have him/her return it on the due date (the letter day that is on his/her library card in the back of the book. Books must be returned in order for your child to check out another book. (Kindergarten students are encouraged to keep their books at school unless the teacher tells them to take it home.)
Please remind your child to find a safe place to keep their book, to carry it in a backpack/bookbag to and from school. It should not be out in the yard, near food or water, or left where younger siblings or pets can get it.
You also may notice a colored dot on the spine of the book. This means it is an Accelerated Reader (AR) book. See the AR section for more info.

lost or damaged books
Can't find your book? Look under your bed, in the back of the closet, under the couch, behind the curtains... think of the craziest place in the world that it might be, and then look there. If it has a spine label and a barcode, it probably belongs to the library! Good luck!
It is never too late to return that lost book. Please help your child search carefully. If it should suddenly turn up, please return it as soon as possible. We are always happy to welcome back lost and missing books.
*Please be aware that if your child checks out a book and loses it there will be a fine. If a book is damaged, please return it to the library as soon as possible so the damage can be assessed. If the damage is slight it will go in the Book Hospital to be mended. If the damage is more severe and the book needs to be replaced there will be a fine.
